Fasting isn’t just a religious act; it’s a civic one.
While fasting is generally associated with religious practice, it is also a civic and health practice. You do not have to belong to a religious group to pause, sacrifice, reflect, and to take action or serve in your local community. Fasting is about sacrificing something significant to you in order to achieve a greater goal. We are asking you to become part of the Freedom Fast movement.
We will provide you toolkits for community engagement and service. We will provide inspirational ideas and show models of how communities are engaging. We cannot be content with the polarization that divides or threatens our forefathers’ vision. For the past 13 generations, this experiment in democracy has worked, but it must be protected. We seek maturity and believe it is better than polarity, and we are offering a way forward through a process that can change America.
Coming together, seeing ourselves in symbols and images that capture our common ground, and working to build integrity, dignity, and respect. Our future may depend on our willingness to sacrifice in order to advance a common vision. Join us in the Freedom Fast, and then enjoy breaking the fast in celebration of a united America. This is Jim Copple for the Freedom Fast.
